For a fun family day out this Easter visit the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway to meet the Easter Bunny. From Easter Saturday 3rd to Bank Holiday Monday 5th April, the Easter Bunny will be at Kilmeadan Station to greet you on arrival and wave you off on the train. You can even have your photo taken with the Easter Bunny in the locomotive.
The railway opens for the season on 1st April and will operate until 30th September. Visitors enjoy a 40 minute trip in a narrow gauge railway carriage hauled by a diesel locomotive through the countryside and along the banks of the River Suir. You get a glimpse into Mount Congreve Gardens and wonderful views across the river to County Kilkenny. This is an award winning, community project. The train is driven by volunteers and they are currently recruiting more people to join the volunteer crew. No experience is necessary as full training is given.
The company operates a Friend's Membership Programme. In 2010 you can travel free for the season, by becoming a friend of the railway. Family membership is €60.00. This allows a family of two adults and up to four children to travel free for the 2010 season from April to September as often as you like. You will receive a 20% discount for guests travelling with you and 10% off special event such as the Sunset Express, Spooky Express and Santa Express. You will also be supporting a voluntary community project with charitable status. To take full advantage of membership join today.
