Things To Do In The Lismore Area

Lismore is located where the N72 road crosses the River Blackwater. In the 7th century, Lismore was the site of the well-known Lismore Abbey. It is also home to Lismore Castle, the birth place to the "Father of Chemistry" Sir Robert Boyle (of Boyle's Law).

Lismore Heritage Centre

Located in the centre of town, Lismore Heritage Centre is a must for those wishing to learn of the town's illustrious past. The Heritage Centre has an award winning audio visual display of Lismore history plus an exhibition space dedicated to the life of Robert Boyle 'The Father of Modern Chemistry'.

Lismore Castle

One of the most spectacular castles in Ireland, Lismore Castle is situated in a panoramic position overlooking the Blackwater Valley. The Castle has views over rolling, wooded hills to the Knockmealdown Mountains beyond and two wonderful gardens that can be enjoyed during the summer months.
