As Summer arrives the Waterford Suir Valley Railway invites you to celebrate on board the Sunset Express on Thursday 18th June, 16th July and 20th August 2020. The Waterford Suir Valley Railway has revived this sunset experience due to public demand.
So many people have requested to experience the entire 10km return journey from Kilmeadan Station to Bilberry Station. Apart from being part of a pre-booked group, it is the only time the train journeys the entire length of the track.Arrive to Kilmeadan Station to enjoy an acoustic music reception at 7pm while sipping Prosecco and indulging in fresh Wexford strawberries. This is followed by a narrow gauge railway journey through the countryside and along the banks of the River Suir, taking in the magnificent views across the river to County Kilkenny. On the journey you will get a glimpse into Mount Congreve Gardens, pass through the Magic Wood and under the road (N25) via the Dan Donovan Tunnel to the Thomas Francis Meagher Bridge toll plaza, then on to Bilberry Station, 1km from Waterford City. On the return journey sit back and enjoy as the setting sun dances on the water as it reflects on the River Suir. This is such a wonderful way to experience Waterford Greenway. This is very popular with adult groups, social clubs, hen parties and landmark birthdays as part of the evening celebrations. Romantic couples have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and even engagements on the Sunset Express over the years. The Sunset Express may be booked by groups on other dates. A minimum group of 20 is required.
