Railway Opens 3rd June
We are delighted to announce Waterford Suir Valley Railway will re-open on Thursday 3rd June 2021.
You can now book your tickets online www.wsvrailway.ie/book-tickets/
The train carriages have been divided into compartments so each party/family will have a private compartment. The compartments are named after the stations on the abandoned Waterford, Dungarvan & Lismore Railway.
Step back in time to 1878, check in at the ticket office, a converted Mark 11 railway carriage at the beautifully restored Kilmeadan Station. Chat to the friendly train drivers while being escorted to a private compartment on the train. Hear the whistle blow as the train departs on a nostalgic journey through Waterford’s Suir Valley, an area rich in history and only accessible by train and Waterford Greenway. Travelling at a gentle pace, enjoy wonderful views through partially open carriages of the river Suir and the rolling Waterford and Kilkenny countryside.
The safety of our customers, crew and families is very important to us. Protocols are in place for Covid 19 such as social distancing, hand sanitising and wearing of masks in enclosed area. We have completed the Failte Ireland Operating with Covid 19 training and signed up to the Failte Ireland Covid 19 Safety Charter.
The Whistlestop Café is open for refreshments and snacks. Enjoy Blue Butterfly Coffee, a selection of hot and cold teas, smoothies, Kilmeaden Bake’s treats, Market Stall Sandwiches and 99’s.
While this year has been tough, we remain positive that there are better times ahead in 2021. We are really looking forward to welcoming both our railway and Waterford Greenway customers to Kilmeadan Station.
Stay Safe from all the Waterford Suir Valley Railway crew.
